When you THINK you know someone

Image
When you THINK you know someone I’ve had so many moments in my life where I’d be in a conversation with someone and during the conversation I’d have thoughts come up judging the person in one way or another. Then I’d believe my judgmental thoughts about the person, define the person accordingly and this will determine my experience, words and actions towards them. Only to later realise / discover that my thoughts / judgments towards them were mere interpretations and in no way came CLOSE to who they were in a moment and were in fact the complete opposi. This especially stood out when I had a negative / emotional reaction towards the person and whatever was being discussed. When you start understanding your thoughts and emotions, you CLEARLY see in such moments how your own reactions towards a person causes you to misinterpret them, because you filter their words / the sound of their voice through your own reactions and so leading to creating assumptions / ideas of the ...

Help! Nervousness ruined my Moment!

Image
Help! Nervousness ruined my Moment! I have faced moments in my life where (and this especially when it came to asking people something / talking to them about a certain topic / issue) I would become REALLY nervous, anxious and fearful – building up so much emotional energy about it inside myself, that I eventually give up and decide not to ask / speak up. This caused me to suppress many things inside myself, keep my head bowed down, mostly staying out of people’s way and just being / doing how I perceived / interpreted they expected me to be in relation to them. Even though I may observe things and experience things about them and me in relation to them – I would keep quiet and bottle things up inside…All of this lead to much insecurity and inferiority inside of me in relation to people – activating the ‘pleasing character’, waiting for things to happen / unfold in my relationship to others or trying my best to ignore / suppress what I see, observe and experience. Now...

Goal of the Moment

Image
Goal of the Moment I was in a discussion when a point in relation to Goals and setting them opened up. It started off with an individual sharing with me how they plan their day: list all the things that needs to get done in that day, prioritise them and tick them off one by one. If they come across contingencies beyond their control on their walk through the day – they will return to their list, recheck all the priorities and move / shuffle the responsibilities according to the days of the week based on priority. So, this individual’s schedule (in relation to daily goals) is pliable – yet maintains a focus and is walked dedicatedly day in and day out. From here – the discussion went into Goals as follows: they shared with me their short-term goals in the next year or two and then shared with me long-term goals that will stem from the short-term goals. As they were explaining this to me, I saw the following: I saw how their life will come into creation through their ...

A Moment of Focus

Image
A Moment of Focus Today I looked at the word FOCUS, reminding me of this photo. Stout, intently focusing himself on something is not only seen in his eyes, but his total presence coming through in the photo. Focus on yourself, priorities and responsibilities is something you can slowly lose as your focus shifts into thoughts and emotions in the Mind...entertaining fears in the Mind over time can do this especially well. I've realised one cannot be as focused and so disciplined to one's utmost potential, while having an effective balance between play and work...as long as one is in a constant emotional state that starts taking over and taking precedence over self and ones everyday life experience. So, when you start noticing things slacking or being postponed in your life...get that focus and balance back by taking responsibility for what's going on inside yourself before it takes over you and your life. I have personally walked through such a pro...

Preparing Fruit Salad Moment

Image
Preparing Fruit Salad Moment   I was peeling papaya this afternoon for a fruit salad lunch . While peeling I noticed I was rushing and cutting quite a bit of the edible parts with the peels. I breathed and slowed down, paying more attention to each peel. Even slowing down was a process as I experienced a resistance to slowing down cause I was in an overall rushed state. This moment peeling the papaya supported me with the reminder of slowing myself down with breath, being more comfortable in my body and paying attention to detail. What I have found contributes to this ‘rushed state’ is when I have for some time been THINKING about one thing or many other things at the same time, where I...
